The BUGZ Show!

 Dear Parents,

What a great week this has been! The BUGZ Show was a complete hit. Thank you for everyone's support with the costumes and coming to watch your little ones perform. They all did so wonderful and I was so proud of all of my little larva! (We joked how I was the mom ladybug and they were the baby ladybugs- larva. :) )

This week in math, we learned about sorting. We talked about different things that you might sort at home. Many of them told about how their clothes are sorted in their closet by longs sleeve and short sleeve, how their toys are sorted into different types in bins, and how their silverware is sorted in their kitchen. Then we did a fun activity at our desks where the kids sorted buttons!

The kids sorted the buttons all different ways! Some sorted them by shape, some by color. Other kids sorted them by texture, size, number of buttons, shininess, dark vs, light. They were getting so creative! I was so proud of them.

Again, our BUGZ Show was a hit! The kids did a great job singing and remembering their actions that they have been practicing. I love how all the ladybug shirts turned out different too. It all turned out so great. Thank you for your support! They sure do make some cute ladybugs!

Teacher Appreciation Week!

Dear Parents,

What an amazing week this has been. Teacher appreciation week is always a great week for teachers of course. I was blown away by the cute notes, cards, gifts, gift cards, treats, Wanted signs, everything! Thank you so much! I absolutely loved everything and felt very appreciated! Thank you for your generosity! I am so blessed to have such an amazing group of supportive and kind parents. Pinebrook parents and the PTA really are amazing!

Pinebrook participated in Project ACES this week. This project promotes healthy living and wellness. From 2:00-2:15, all of the students at Pinebrook were exercising at the same time. We exercised by dancing to the Just Dance songs for 15 minutes on the big promethean board. The kids loved it and were very tired at the end.
In the AM class, we participated in the book, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," with a felt caterpillar puppet and felt food for the caterpillar to eat. In the end, he turned into a butterfly! It was very cute.

2. Show n' Tell this week will be: Foreign places. Bring an item from a foreign place and be able to show where it is from on our classroom globe or map.

3. DRA Testing begins this week. PALS testing is now complete and I was very pleased with how everyone did. Great job students!

4. Our BUGZ show is coming up in 2 weeks! May 22nd! The kids have been practicing very hard on their song and movements. Please remember for our class costume your child will need: a red shirt, black bottoms of some kind (skirt, pants, shorts). I hope to see all the parents there.

Have a great week everyone!

Butterfly Life Cycle!

Dear Parents,

Sorry this post is late this week! Better late than never though I guess. :) I hope everyone is having a fabulous week! Here is what we have been up to in class.

Thomas was our star of the week in the AM class. He made a fabulous poster. Thomas has two brothers and he likes to play in the snow. He was a firefighter for Halloween, he likes to play video games, and he enjoys spending time with his mom and dad. Great job Thomas!

This week we have been learning about the butterfly life cycle. I had the kids act out the life cycle as if they were the butterfly. They started as an egg, then hatched out as a caterpillar, gobbled leaves, formed a chrysalis, and then became a beautiful butterfly. I dimmed the lights and played nature music in the background to set the mood. It was amazing to see them get so creative and use their bodies to tell the story. Ask your child about the life cycle and what they have been learning.
